Pissed as Hell

July 16th, 2009

Today, we had Josh Earnest who’s the deputy press secretary for President Obama. I was SO excited and I had my amazing question prepared: ‘As you know, Mexico is in a bloody war against drug cartels. The cartels are in possession of assault weapons purchased in the U.S. and smuggled into Mexico. Does President Obama plan to reinstate the assault weapons ban?’

An excellent question, but one that wasn’t answered because he didn’t call on me! I’m super-pissed because my question was a lot better than some of the other questions brought up?

Chuck Todd

July 15th, 2009

Finally! After constantly waking up every morning for school, turning on the “Today” show, and watching Chuck Todd report live form the White House, I finally got to meet the man! He was one of the best speakers and I got to introduce and shake his hand! Too bad I didn’t give him my business card. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to give one to Helen Thomas.

Tueday

July 15th, 2009

On Tueday, we went to the American History Museum and the Air and Space Museum. I was disappointed that the American History Museum shrunk its sports and entertainment gallery. That was probably the one exhibit in the museum that I was looking forward to seeing. But I don’t understand spending all this time in museums when we could be learning more about how to be a better writer or editor-in-chief. I just can’t understand what air and space has to do with journalism.

A Little Disrespectful

July 15th, 2009

I don’t know why it is that the WJMC staff has to assign questions to people after a speaker presents. It’s even more disrespectful than no kids asking questions. During the session with Mark Potts, one girl said that she was a fan of his blog and procceded to ask a question on one of his posts. Only later did I find out that she never even read his blog. Didn’t one of our speakers say never to lie? What’s the deal WJMC?

Shocked

July 15th, 2009

Heard about the Capitol Hill shooting. And I’m weirded out. Not just because we were there a few hours earlier, but, while waiting at the security checkpoint, I was thinking how security seemed to be lax especially since some guy pretended to be our chaperone and was able to get in
